This service is provided for children who are difficult to test in general ENT paediatric clinics and children referred from Newborn Hearing Screening Programme testing, paediatricians, other ENT consultants and paediatric audiology colleagues.

We manage children with hearing impairment who have global developmental delay, cerebral palsy and learning difficulties. Most of these children have complex medical, social and educational needs.

We provide service for diagnosis and management of childhood sensori-neural hearing impairment, conductive hearing impairment including otitis media with effusion (OME-Glue ear), hyperacusis and tinnitus in children and routine balance problems. We have provided auditory rehabilitation to children as young as one month old.

Three ENT doctors, including two consultants, six highly trained and experienced paediatric audiologists and several support staff are part of this team.

We collaborate closely with Midlands Cochlear Implant Programme at Aston University and Birmingham Children Hospital. Referrals are made for paediatric Cochlear Implantation and Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA).”
