Bikram has worked as a consultant orthodontist for Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust since 2010. He graduated from University of Sydney, Australia in 1991. He completed his specialist training in 2003 and worked as consultant orthodontist at Aberdeen Dental School, Aberdeen for nearly 7 years. He has also worked as a senior registrar at Westmead Hospital, NSW, Australia for 18 months in 1997. He completed Master of Science degree from the University of London in 1997. He obtained his Membership in Orthodontics from Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1999.  He has a fellowship in Orthodontics from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

His main interest in orthodontics involves treating patients with dentofacial deformities (jaw disproportion), children and adults with hypodontia (missing teeth) and impacted teeth (teeth that do not erupt naturally). He also treats patients with cleft lip and palate, in his previous post in Aberdeenshire he was one of the lead orthodontists for these patients.
